Kingdom Building Reading
As the Word of God reads in II Corinthians 4:1-3: (1) Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not; (2) But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God. (3) But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
On May 3, 2008 in his prayer time, needing and asking God for direction for his life, Pastor Kenneth Lock Sr. turned on the television not knowing that God was about to give him a spoken word through Prophetess Michele Corral on her religious program. The spoken words were “That the manifested glory of God that you look for upon your life cannot come because you are not in position” pierced him in his spirit. Acknowledging and receiving the spoken word that she gave was for him, on May 4, 2008 the Man of God took a bold step and pronounced to his former pastor that it’s time to move on the chosen call of God for his life. No money saved, not a building to go to, he talked to God o how to move. The Lord gave him a confirmed word in II Corinthians 2:12 “that through faith there is an open door for him”. Through that scripture is how The Open Door Christian Worship Center name was established. Stepping out on faith, he had his first Sunday School class in his living room at 4101 North Elmhurst Rd on Sunday, May 11, 2008. Positioned by a pastor that heard about his faith walk, there was a conference talk with the Man of God offering their building and said God led them to help him. This allowed The Open Door family which included his wife, children, sister-in-law, cousin and a number of friends to have the first bible study on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 and their first Sunday Worship Service on May 18, 2008 with an attendance of 100 people at New Life Church, 3410 West Silver Spring Drive. Being sensitive to the Spirit that there were hidden agendas that did not line up with the vision that God gave him, he departed in peace and moved back to his living room trusting God for favor.
On May 27, 2008, a door was opened at 2329 North 12th Street. We were located at this address for five months. God spoke again to the Man of God saying “it’s time to move, your season is up here”. Being comfortable at where he was and following the voice of God, he was led to an old auto repair place. The Man of God went inside and looking in his spiritual eye pronounced “this is it”! He asked his wife can she see it and she responded “if you see it, I see it”. We moved in on November 2, 2008 believing God for resources and began to build through faith.
On February 8, 2009, the Pastors were accepted into A.I.M. (Association of Independent Ministries) under the leadership of Apostle I.V. Hilliard.
